What is DNS and what are Registrars? | | What is a domain name? A domain name (ex: srohosting.com) is how users on the internet know your website. An IP address (ex: 64.235.233.35) is the numeric address of the server your domain is hosted on. Domain names are mapped to IP addresses by DNS (domain name system), which is the internet's directory of domain names and their IP addresses.
What is a domain name registration? Registration is necessary to secure your domain name and Registrars are the companies licensed by ICANN to lease domain names.
